Function

Involved in pre-mRNA splicing as component of spliceosome. As part of the spliceosome complex, plays a role in the regulation of spermatogonial differentiation. When associated with the SAGA transcription regulatory histone acetylation (HAT) complex, might be involved in the transcriptional activation of a subset of SAGA-regulated genes.

These data support an independent function of SF3B5 in the transcription coactivator activity of the Spt-Ada-Gcn5 acetyltransferase that is separate from its role in splicing. PMID: 27185460
