Target Background

Function
Binds to Rho-kinase Rok and targets it to the apical cell cortex where it mediates apical constriction. During embryogenic axis elongation, required for the localization to adherens junctions and the establishment of planar polarization of both Rho-kinase Rok and myosin regulatory light chain sqh. May be involved in the assembly of microtubule arrays during cell elongation.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The structure of Shrm domain 2 (SD2), which mediates the interaction with Rock and is required for Shrm function, is reported. PMID: 22493320
  2. The data show that the differential subcellular distribution of naturally occurring isoforms of Shroom proteins can define both the position and organization of actomyosin networks in vivo. PMID: 20549743
Subcellular Location
[Isoform D]: Cell junction, adherens junction. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton.; [Isoform F]: Apical cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein.
