Target Background

Function

Binds stem loop II of U1 snRNA. It is the first snRNP to interact with pre-mRNA. This interaction is required for the subsequent binding of U2 snRNP and the U4/U6/U5 tri-snRNP. Plays a role in regulating sex-lethal splicing.

Gene References into Functions

U2A' immobilizes SNF and RNA residues to restore U2 stem-loop IV binding affinity, while U1 stem-loop II binding does not require such adjustments. Study findings show how U2A' can modulate RNA specificity of SNF without changing SNF conformation or relying on direct RNA contacts. PMID: 29880797
