Target Background

Function

Effector proteins function to alter host cell physiology and promote bacterial survival in host tissues. Contributes to replication in macrophages. Plays a role, cooperatively with SopB, in membrane fission and macropinosome formation during invasion.

Gene References into Functions

Findings demonstrate that type III secretion of SopD involves multiple signals and protein interactions, providing important mechanistic insights into effector protein secretion. PMID: 20185511
results indicate that both SopD and SopD2 contribute to virulence in mice and suggest a functional relationship between these two proteins during systemic infection of the host. PMID: 15554961
