Target Background

Function
Neurotrophin which may function as a ligand for the Toll-related receptors Toll-6 and Toll-7. Binds to Toll-7 and Toll-6, and probably acts as their ligands in the promotion of motor axon targeting and neuronal survival in the central nervous system (CNS). Involved in synaptic targeting of ISNb/d motorneurons and also some SNa motorneurons. May be involved in the normal development of specific neurons at the neuromuscular junction.

  1. Using pull-down assays, we identified and validated CaMKII and VAP33A as intracellular partners of Kek-6, and show that they regulate NMJ growth and active zone formation downstream of DNT2 and Kek-6. PMID: 28846707
  2. Data suggest that Spz functions with neuron-type specificity at the muscle 4 NMJ, and DNT1 and DNT2 function together at the muscles 6,7 NMJ. PMID: 24124519
