Target Background

Function
Involved in modulation of glucose-regulated gene expression. Together with MTH1, represses the hexose transporter (HXT) genes in conditions of low glucose. Stimulates the SNF1 kinase by an interaction with the catalytic domain that antagonizes autoinhibition and promotes an active conformation of the kinase.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The structural origins of the thermodyn. and kinetic effects of the N-term domain on DNA binding by TBP were explored in studies of TBPc (C-terminal domain of TBP) and TBP by "protein footprinting" with hydroxyl radical (*OH) side chain oxidation. PMID: 17683121
Subcellular Location
Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein. Nucleus.
