Target Background

Function
Required for high-affinity tryptophan transport. Also transports cysteine, phenyalanine and tyrosine.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Tup1p bound to TAT1 and TAT2 gene promoters, which depended on Stp1/2p activators. PMID: 26546823
  2. Fifteen amino acid residues in Tat2 transmembrane domains 1, -3, -5, -8, and -10 are responsible for tryptophan uptake. PMID: 23768406
  3. Data show that tryptophan transport is increased in pdr5Delta/yor1 strains and reduced in rsb1Delta cells, and the localization and vacuolar degradation of Tat2 were affected in these genetic backgrounds. PMID: 20826817
  4. cytoplasmic tails are involved in Rsp5-mediated ubiquitination of Tat2 under high-pressure or low-temperature conditions PMID: 15064981
  5. multiple ubiquitin-specific proteases are involved in hydrostatic pressure-induced degradation of Tat2, rather than free ubiquitin depletion. PMID: 15451116
  6. Here, it is shown that the deletion in ERG2, which encodes sterol C8-C7 isomerase (the next enzymatic step after Erg6), promotes the vacuolar degradation of Tat2. PMID: 19659576
