Target Background

Function
Catalyzes the first oxidative step of the phenylpropanoid pathway in higher plants by transforming trans-cinnamate into p-coumarate. The compounds formed by this pathway are essential components for lignification, pollination, and defense against ultraviolet light, predators and pathogens.
