Target Background

Function
Together with TGA10, basic leucine-zipper transcription factor required for anther development, probably via the activation of SPL expression in anthers and via the regulation of genes with functions in early and middle tapetal development. Required for signaling responses to pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) such as flg22 that involves chloroplastic reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and subsequent expression of H(2)O(2)-responsive genes.
Gene References into Functions
  1. TGA9 is involved in reactive oxygen species mediated signaling during pathogen-associated molecular pattern responses. PMID: 27717447
  2. Mutations in TGA9 and TGA10 lead to male sterility and differential defects in abaxial and adaxial anther lobe development similar to roxy1 roxy2 mutants. [TGA9] PMID: 20805327
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
Protein Families
BZIP family
Tissue Specificity
Mostly expressed in stems, inflorescence apex and flowers, and, to a lower extent, in seedlings, leaves and siliques.
