Target Background

Function
Required for normal embryo development, vegetative growth and transition to flowering. Regulates embryo growth, cell wall deposition, starch and sucrose degradation, but not cell differentiation. Involved in the regulation of glucose sensing and signaling genes during plant development.
Gene References into Functions
  1. TPS1 is required for sucrose-induced hypocotyl elongation in light/dark cycles. PMID: 29114081
  2. loss of TPS1 causes extremely late flowering; this suggests TPS1 is required for timely initiation of flowering; findings show the trehalose-6-phosphate pathway affects flowering both in leaves and at the shoot meristem, and integrate TPS1 into the existing genetic framework of flowering-time control PMID: 23393265
  3. TSP1 plays an essential role in regulating the growth of vegetative as well as embryogenic tissue in a mechanism involving ABA and sugar metabolism. PMID: 20659274
  4. TPS1 may play a major role in coordinating cell wall biosynthesis and cell division with cellular metabolism during embryo development. PMID: 16553896
  5. It can be expected that TPS1 from tobacco has a relatively high similarity to the TPS of Arabidopsis thaliana. PMID: 17111094
