Target Background

Function
Specific subunit of the TRAPP II complex, a highly conserved vesicle tethering complex that is required for the proper transport of proteins in post-Golgi trafficking pathways to the growing cell plate in mitotic active cells. Required for the polarized and selective transport of PIN2 and probably PIN1 to the plasma membrane. Not required for ER-to-Golgi as well as biosynthetic and endocytic vacuolar transport.
Gene References into Functions
  1. VAN4-mediated exocytosis at the trans Golgi network plays important roles in plant vascular development and cell growth in shoot and root.[VAN4] PMID: 24443495
  2. Disruptions of AtTRS120 or AtTRS130 result in defective cytokinesis and cell polarity in embryogenesis and seedling development. Post-Golgi trafficking to the cell plate and to the cell wall, but not to the vacuole, is impaired. PMID: 21689172
  3. AtTRS120 is required for cell plate assembly. PMID: 20713617
Subcellular Location
Golgi apparatus, trans-Golgi network. Early endosome.
Protein Families
TRS120 family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in roots, leaves, stems and flowers.
