Target Background

Function
Required for correct initiation of floral organ primordia and for proper development of organ primordia. Phosphorylates in vitro ASF1B/SGA1, the C-terminal part of TKI1 and histone H3.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The data suggest a possible role for TSL phosphorylation in the specific regulation of exogenous and antiviral RNA silencing in Arabidopsis and identify TSL as an intrinsic regulator of RNA interference. PMID: 24920830
  2. Our results provide direct evidence for a crucial role of the TOUSLED protein kinase in the maintenance of transcriptional gene silencing in some genomic regions in a DNA-methylation-independent manner in Arabidopsis. PMID: 17110953
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
Protein Families
Protein kinase superfamily, Ser/Thr protein kinase family
Tissue Specificity
Most abundant in developing floral meristem. Also expressed in maturing flowers, developing seeds, mature leaves and roots. Barely detected in stems.
