Target Background

Function
Methyltransferase required for the conversion of demethylmenaquinol (DMKH2) to menaquinol (MKH2) and the conversion of 2-polyprenyl-6-methoxy-1,4-benzoquinol (DDMQH2) to 2-polyprenyl-3-methyl-6-methoxy-1,4-benzoquinol (DMQH2). In vitro, can use demethylphylloquinol, an intermediate in the biosynthesis of phylloquinone (vitamin K1) in plants and cyanobacteria.
Gene References into Functions
  1. study reports the identification and characterization of MenH (or YfbB), an enzyme previously proposed to catalyze a late step in menaquinone biosynthesis, as the (1 R,6 R)-2-succinyl-6-hydroxy-2,4-cyclohexadiene-1-carboxylate synthase PMID: 18284213
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
Protein Families
