Target Background

Function
Regulates planar ovule integument development by suppressing aberrantly oriented growth. Maintains planar growth of integuments by repressing the developmental regulator and transcription factor KAN4 which is involved in the control of early integument growth and polarity. Restricts growth in stamen filaments, petals, and cotyledons.
Gene References into Functions
  1. UCN is a unique plant growth regulator that maintains planar growth of integuments by repressing a developmental regulator involved in the control of early integument growth and polarity. [UCN] [UNICORN] PMID: 22927420
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Nucleus.
Protein Families
Protein kinase superfamily, AGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in the epidermis and cortex of the transition zone of the root apex and developing flowers. Expressed in rosette leaves, stems and siliques.
