Target Background

Function
Member of the two-component regulatory system UvrY/BarA involved in the regulation of carbon metabolism via the CsrA/CsrB regulatory system. UvrY activates the transcription of the untranslated csrB RNA and of barA, in an autoregulatory loop. Mediates the effects of CsrA on csrB RNA by BarA-dependent and BarA-independent mechanisms.
Gene References into Functions
  1. CsrA positively affects uvrY expression, at both the transcriptional and translational levels. PMID: 25535275
  2. The role of Escherichia coli BarA-UvrY two-component system in virulence using a monkey cystitis model is reported. PMID: 16529647
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
