Target Background

Function
Probable vacuolar iron transporter involved in the transfer of iron ions from the cytosol to the vacuole for intracellular iron storage. Involved in regulation of cellular iron homeostasis. Vacuolar iron storage is required for seed embryo and seedling development.
Gene References into Functions
  1. WRKY46 binds to the promoter region of VITL1. PMID: 27208259
  2. The gene transcripts for nodulin-like1 showed decreased abundance following 6 h of Fe-deficient growth. PMID: 21411332
Subcellular Location
Vacuole membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Protein Families
CCC1 family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in the vascular bundles of the shoot and the stele of the root. Expressed in inflorescences and at lower levels in leaves.
