Target Background

Function
Essential for protein sorting in meiotic cell division of S.cerevisiae; it binds microtubules. Could also be involved in microtubule-associated motility. Necessary for membrane protein retention in a late Golgi compartment. Interacts with the MVP1 protein.
Gene References into Functions
  1. These data support a model in which phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of Vps1 promote distinct interactions and highlight the importance of such regulatory events in facilitating sequential progression of the endocytic process. PMID: 26711254
  2. A model is proposed in which actin filaments bind Vps1 during invagination, and this interaction is important to transduce the force of actin polymerization to the membrane to drive successful scission. PMID: 25772449
  3. Vps1 functions as a recycling factor in the membrane traffic. PMID: 24219288
  4. Fission of retromer SNX-BAR-coated tubules from yeast endosomes is promoted by Vps1. PMID: 24567361
  5. Vps1 is required for correct and efficient protein trafficking from the late endosomal compartments to the vacuole. PMID: 23385815
  6. Data demonstrate a role for Vps1 in facilitating endocytic invagination. PMID: 20841380
  7. Data indicate that Vps1 is required for the proper assembly and maturation of endocytic vesicles. PMID: 20189679
  8. Here, we describe a role of the dynamin-like GTPase Vps1p in fusion of yeast vacuoles. Vps1p forms polymers that couple several t-SNAREs together. PMID: 15550248
