Target Background

Function
Required for localization and recycling of the CPY sorting receptor (VPS10) to the late-Golgi compartment. Involved in the retention of proteins to the late-Golgi. Plays an integral role in the complex vacuolar protein sorting process.
Gene References into Functions
  1. C-terminal alpha-helical segments of VPS3 and VPS8 are necessary for CORVET assembly and function. PMID: 23840658
  2. Data suggest that the Vps21 interaction is not essential for endosomal trafficking but may be important for some other aspect of Vps8 function. PMID: 20173035
  3. Vps8 interacts and cooperates with the activated Rab5 homolog Vps21 to induce the clustering of late endosomal membranes PMID: 19828734
Subcellular Location
Golgi apparatus, Golgi stack. Note=Associated with the late-Golgi membranes.
