Target Background

Function
Has a role in the formation of the multivesicular body (MVB). Required for the sorting of lipids to form intralumenal vesicles and for fluid-phase transport to the vacuole. Required for sorting the plasma membrane proteins STE2 and STE3 into the MVB. Acts a cofactor of VSP4, promotes the oligomerization of VPS4 and stimulates its ATPase activity by 6- to 8-fold.
Gene References into Functions
  1. the Did2 binding does not result in Vta1NTD significant conformational changes, revealing that Did2, similar to Vps60, enhances Vta1 stimulation of Vps4 ATPase activity in an indirect manner. PMID: 27924850
  2. Four Vps4 subunits form a helix whose interfaces are consistent with ATP binding, is stabilized by Vta1, and binds the substrate peptide. PMID: 28379137
  3. ESCRT-III binding to the Vta1 microtubule interacting and trafficking domains relieves linker region autoinhibition of the VSE to produce maximal activation of Vps4 during ESCRT function. PMID: 23880759
  4. Structural basis of molecular recognition between ESCRT-III-like protein Vps60 and AAA-ATPase regulator Vta1 in the multivesicular body pathway. PMID: 23105107
  5. Regulates disassembly of endosomal sorting complex required for transport (ESCRT) proteins through Vps4. PMID: 16505166
  6. Vps46p regulates the membrane association of Vps4p and is required for the interaction of Vta1p with Vps32p/Snf7p of the ESCRT-III complex. PMID: 16601096
  7. mechanism of regulation by Vta1 in which the C-terminal domain stabilizes the ATP-dependent double ring assembly. PMID: 18194651
  8. impact of Vta1 and ESCRT-III family members on Vps4 ATPase activity PMID: 18194652
  9. models in which Vps4p MIT and Vta1p domains engage endosomal sorting complex required for transport-III substrates above the bowl and help transfer them into the bowl to be pumped through the center of the dodecameric assembly PMID: 18280501
