Function

Plays a role in synthesis, processing and/or stability of 23S rRNA. Required for embryogenesis. May be involved in RPL23 transcript levels regulation in non-photosynthetic plastids.

Gene References into Functions

Uniform Mu insertions result in embryo-lethal in W22 and albino seedling in B73. The gene is expressed throughout the plant with highest expression in leaf and shoot tissues. The gene is essential for accumulation of 23S plastid rRNA. PMID: 27574185
