Target Background

Function
Transcriptional regulator required for normal differentiation of the ovary transmitting tract cells and pollen tube growth. In Arabidopsis, the transmitting tract facilitates the transport of pollen tubes to the ovules for fertilization. May play a role in the regulation of AGL8/FUL, which is required for normal pattern of cell division, expansion and differentiation during morphogenesis of the silique. Plays a role in replum development by the activation of the homeobox protein KNAT1.
Gene References into Functions
  1. NTT loss of function leads to reduced replum width and cell number, whereas increased expression promotes replum enlargement. NTT activates the homeobox gene BP, which, together with RPL, is important for replum development. PMID: 25039392
  2. These results indicate that NTT suppresses FUL, indicating a potential role in patterning of the silique. PMID: 23515580
  3. Required for transmitting-tract development; mutations cause reduced fertility by severely inhibiting pollen-tube movement [NTT] PMID: 17600712
Subcellular Location
Nucleus.
Protein Families
WIP C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in developing carpels. Expressed in the shoot apical meristem and the replum.
