Description

Testosterone is a steroid hormone that plays important roles in reproductive physiology, sexual development, and secondary sexual characteristics across mammalian species. As the primary male sex hormone, testosterone regulates spermatogenesis, libido, and the development of male reproductive tissues, while also influencing muscle mass, bone density, and behavioral patterns. In veterinary and comparative endocrinology research, testosterone measurements are necessary for studying reproductive health, breeding programs, and hormonal disorders in domestic and wild animal populations.

The Canine Testosterone ELISA Kit (CSB-E06893c) provides quantitative measurement of testosterone in canine samples using a competitive assay principle. This kit works with serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates with a detection range of 0.1-20 ng/mL and sensitivity of 0.05 ng/mL. The assay requires 50-100 μL sample volume and can be completed within 1-5 hours. Measurements are taken at 450 nm wavelength.

Application Examples

Note: The following application examples are drawn from a selection of publications citing this product. For additional applications, please refer to the full list of references in the "Citations" section.

This canine testosterone ELISA kit has been used in veterinary endocrine research to quantify testosterone levels in various biological samples. The kit supports hormonal profiling studies and androgen-related research in canine subjects. Applications span reproductive health research and prostatic disease studies where testosterone measurement is needed for understanding hormonal status.

Hormonal profiling - Used alongside estrogen measurements to assess reproductive hormone levels in canine research studies
Prostatic disease research - Applied in conjunction with dihydrotestosterone and estradiol analysis to study hormonal factors in prostate-related conditions
Androgen studies - Used for testosterone quantification in serum and tissue samples as part of comprehensive hormonal assessments
Veterinary endocrine research - Applied in laboratory studies examining hormonal biomarkers alongside other prostatic-specific markers
