 Q&A
Q:

I am interested in measuring Corticosteroid Binding Globulin in human plasma samples. I had a look at your product CSB-E14214h. I have some questions:
1. Is the kit specific for the intact cbg or there may be cross-reactivity with the elastase-cleaved form? Is a single or double antibody design? Where do the antibodies bind the protein?
2. What are the typical plasma levels detected by your kit?
3. We need to measure about 160 samples, therefore, how many such ELISA kits do we need?

A:

The product CSB-E14214h is not a double antibody kit. The antibody information is as below:
one is a goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody that has been pre-coated, and one is a specific antibody-rabbit polyclonal antibody. It is a competitive assay but not a traditional double antibody sandwich method. The specific binding site is unclear, and the CBG protein can be detected.

If you want to test 160 samples, if both the sample and the standard are made as single wells, two 96T can be fine. However, considering the sample and possible pre-experimental requirements and accuracy factors, it is recommended that the samples be duplicated. This will require more kits. For more details, please contact us, and let's discuss it together.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Major transport protein for glucocorticoids and progestins in the blood of almost all vertebrate species.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Data suggest that some individuals with adrenal insufficiency due to SERPINA6 mutations present with hypotension or nonspecific symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, or chronic pain, but symptomatology varies widely, even between family members with identical mutations. [REVIEW] PMID: 29194043
