Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<15%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<15%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of human HPL in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Description

The human placenta lactogen (HPL) ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively measure human HPL concentrations in serum or plasma. It performs well in important characteristics, including sensitivity and specificity. This assay is based on the sandwich ELISA mechanism and enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction. The solution color develops proportionally to the amount of HPL in the sample. And the intensity of the color can be measured at 450 nm via a microplate reader.

HPL (CSH1) is a peptide hormone secreted throughout pregnancy by syncytiotrophoblast cells in humans. It mainly functions to regulate maternal lipid and carbohydrate metabolism and is important for mother and fetus energy homeostasis. Indeed, HPL facilitates lipolysis of human adipose tissue in-vitro, increasing the circulating free fatty acids. These can be used as an energy source by producing ketone bodies, which act as fuel for the fetus. HPL also plays an important role in the regulation of insulin secretion in pancreatic β-cells, stimulating their proliferation, and promoting the expression of anti-apoptotic proteins. HPL mainly binds to prolactin receptors and with a much lower affinity to growth hormone receptors.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Produced only during pregnancy and is involved in stimulating lactation, fetal growth and metabolism. Does not interact with GHR but only activates PRLR through zinc-induced dimerization.
