 Q&A
Q:

Please provide the following information regarding Rat vimentin, VIM ELISA Kit (CSB-E14029r):
a. What is the Uniprot/Accession number that this kit is designed for? Is the kit designed for XYZ species or is it designed for a different species such as Human and cross reacts with XYZ species?
b. Is the capture antibody a monoclonal or polyclonal?
c. What is the host of the capture antibody?
d. Is the detection antibody a monoclonal or polyclonal?
e. What is the host of the detection antibody?
f. What’s is that standard? A recombinant protein or something else? If a recombinant protein, what is the host?
g. If recombinant protein, is it full length or partial?
h. What is the species of the standard– human or something else?
i. What sample type was tested with this kit (serum? plasma? Something else?) and what were the reference values.

A:
Thanks for your inquiry.
CSB-E14029r
This kit is designed against full length. Pls refer to: https://www.uniprot.org/uniprot/P31000.
Capture antibody is mouse monoclonal antibody.
Detection antibody is sheep polyclonal antibody.
Standard is NS0-derived recombinant protein.
This kit is designed for rat. Although it has homology with the protein from other species, we don't suggest you use this kit to test other species because there is matrix interference.
We tested serum and plasma samples before and the test value is 20--100ng/ml.
Pls let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Vimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells, especially mesenchymal cells. Vimentin is attached to the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, either laterally or terminally.; Involved with LARP6 in the stabilization of type I collagen mRNAs for CO1A1 and CO1A2.
Gene References into Functions
  1. We labeled brain with ZO1, vimentin, pan-cadherin and angiotensin II type 1 receptors markers which showed a morphologically distinct population of cells at the region of the sulcus medianus organum similar to tanycytes present in the median eminence, a known circumventricular organ. PMID: 29803674
