Immunofluorescence staining of MCF-7 cells with CSB-PA847604LA01HU at 1:100, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L).

Takes part in the salvage pathway for reutilization of fucose from the degradation of oligosaccharides.

Gene References into Functions

Ectopic expression of FUK inhibits the formation and the proteolytic activities of invadopodia, suggesting that the fucose salvage pathway might control melanoma invasion through invadopodium-mediated ECM remodeling. FUK depletion in WM793 melanoma cells at least partially abrogated the L-fucose-mediated inhibition of invadopodium formation. PMID: 29924834
