Form
Liquid or Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.122.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Basically, we can dispatch the products out in 3-7 working days after receiving your orders. Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.

Target Background

Function
This protein promotes the GTP-dependent binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the A-site of ribosomes during protein biosynthesis.; May play an important regulatory role in cell growth and in the bacterial response to nutrient deprivation.; Plays a stimulatory role in trans-translation, binds tmRNA.; Protects glycyl-tRNA(Gly) from hydrolysis by D-aminoacyl-tRNA deacylase (dtd).; (Microbial infection) Upon infection by bacteriophage Qbeta, part of the viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase complex. With EF-Ts may provide a stabilizing scaffold for the beta (catalytic) subunit. Helps separate the double-stranded RNA of the template and growing RNA during elongation. With the beta subunit helps form the exit tunnel for template RNA. The GTPase activity of this subunit is not required for viral RNA replication.
Gene References into Functions
  1. we engineered an approximately 700-million-year-old inferred ancestral variant of tufB, an essential gene encoding elongation factor Tu, and inserted it in a modern Escherichia coli genome in place of the native tufB gene. We subsequently evolved replicate hybrid bacterial populations for 2000 generations and examined the adaptive response via fitness assays, whole genome sequencing, proteomics, and biochemical assays. PMID: 28233029
  2. Comparison of DeltaDeltaG(o) values for binding EF-Tu to aa-tRNA show that the majority of the interface residues stabilize the ternary complex and their thermodynamic contribution can depend on the tRNA species that is used. PMID: 25094027
  3. Fusidic acid increases traps the ribosome EF-G complex in a preexisting conformation formed during translation. Only the 0.3 state is observed when poly(Phe) synthesis is prevented by omission of EF-Tu. PMID: 17727272
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Cell inner membrane; Peripheral membrane protein. Note=Between 50-80% of the protein is associated with the cell inner membrane. Localization to the membrane has been suggested to follow nutrient stress.
Protein Families
TRAFAC class translation factor GTPase superfamily, Classic translation factor GTPase family, EF-Tu/EF-1A subfamily
