Form
Liquid or Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 5°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Galectin that binds lactose and a related range of sugars.
Gene References into Functions
  1. patterns of galectin-4 and galectin-6 expression in the normal and the dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-damaged digestive PMID: 23360694
  2. structure of galectin-4 and binding properties of the N-terminal domain carbohydrate-recognition domain (CRD)1 were further investigated and the crystal structure of CRD1 in complex with lactose was determined at 2.1 A resolution PMID: 21358051
  3. The galectin-4-mediated stimulation of CD4(+) T cells is shown to exacerbate chronic colitis and delay the recovery from acute intestinal injury PMID: 15189734
  4. While the CRD2 domain of galectin-4 has a high specificity and affinity for A type-2 alpha-GalNAc structures, the CRD1 domain has a broader specificity in correlation to the total binding profile. PMID: 16786157
  5. X-ray analysis of the N-terminal domain of colon cancer marker Gal-4 is revealed in complex with lactose (the basic building block of known galectin-4 carbohydrate ligands). PMID: 18607104
  6. galectin-4 plays a unique role in the intestine and assign a novel role of this protein in controlling intestinal inflammation by a selective induction of T cell apoptosis and cell cycle restriction PMID: 18612433
