Form
Liquid or Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
25-35 business days
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Required for sperm migration into the oviduct and male fertility by controlling binding of sperm to zona pellucida. May play a role in cell growth.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Study demonstrated that both TEX101 and Ly6k contribute mutually for their protein expression in the testicular germ cells, suggesting that the expression-balance of these two proteins is essential for fertile sperm formation. PMID: 27005865
  2. LY6K is a newly identified factor involved in sperm fertilizing ability PMID: 24501175
  3. This information is essential for the molecular classification of Ly6k, and may help uncover the detailed physiological role of Ly6k in gametogenesis, or cancer biology. PMID: 20920470
  4. Expression profiling confirmed that mLy-6K is expressed by plasma cells but not B cells or tissues not containing plasma cells. PMID: 18372042
  5. This study confirmed the biological interaction between TEX101 and Ly6k. PMID: 18503752

Subcellular Location
Secreted. Cytoplasm. Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor. Cytoplasmic vesicle, secretory vesicle, acrosome. Membrane raft.
Tissue Specificity
Strongly expressed in testes and weakly expressed in the epididymis, ovary, and uterus. Expressed in testicular germ cells (TGCs). Expressed in the testicular seminiferous tubules, in spermatocytes, spermatids, and testicular spermatozoa.
