Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Receptor for the hormone galanin. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins that inhibit adenylate cyclase activity.
Gene References into Functions
  1. High methylation of GALR1 is associated with head and neck cancer. PMID: 27027429
  2. Study provides evidence that GAL and GALR1/2 genes were identified as aberrantly methylated in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. PMID: 27685843
  3. The MOR-Gal1R heteromer can explain previous results showing antagonistic galanin-opioid interactions and offers a new therapeutic target for the treatment of opioid use disorder PMID: 28007761
  4. GAL and its receptors, GALR1 and GALR2, play a role in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma tumorigenesis PMID: 26572146
  5. Variants in genes for galanin (GAL) and its receptors (GALR1, GALR2, GALR3), despite their disparate genomic loci, conferred increased risk of depression and anxiety in people who experienced childhood adversity or recent negative life events. PMID: 24706871
  6. GALR1 methylation is associated with endometrial cancer. PMID: 23727823
  7. Moreover, we have identified a novel role for the GalR1/galanin receptor-ligand axis in chemoresistance, providing evidence to support its further evaluation as a potential therapeutic target and biomarker in colorectal cancer . PMID: 22859720
  8. Genetic variants in the GALR1 gene are associated with a protective effect in nicotine dependence. PMID: 21796100
  9. The results of this study suggested an association between variation at the GALR1 locus and baseline craving for tobacco in smokers seeking cessation treatment. PMID: 21430647
  10. it has been demonstrated that GalR1-5-HT1A receptors heteromerize. PMID: 20171159
  11. disregulation of galanin receptor 1 may lead to uncontrolled proliferation and neoplastic transformation PMID: 15767248
  12. The analyzed single nucleotide polymorphisms in GAL and GALR1 do not play major role in early onset obesity or dietary fat intake in obese children and adolescents. PMID: 15930442
  13. There was no effect of GALR1 on alcoholism risk. PMID: 17083333
  14. Data suggest that galanin stimulates cortisol secretion from human inner adrenocortical cells, acting through GAL-R1 coupled to the adenylate cyclase/PKA-dependent signaling cascade via a Ptx-sensitive Galpha protein. PMID: 17982695
  15. GalR1 is internalized via the clathrin-dependent, endocytic pathway and then, to a large extent, delivered to lysosomes for degradation through the lysosome-targeting signal YXXO PMID: 18385373
  16. GAL, coding for the neuropeptide galanin, and GALR1, a galanin receptor, were identified as candidate genes of oncogenesis in squamous cell carcinoma using a survey of parallel chromosomal alterations and gene expression studies in 10 SCC cell lines. PMID: 18973137
  17. GALR1 is a tumor suppressor gene in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma PMID: 19047085
