Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
3-7 business days
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Possibly involved in structural functions as organizing other membrane components or in targeting the vesicles to the plasma membrane. Involved in the regulation of short-term and long-term synaptic plasticity.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The environmental enrichment protected against the effects of maternal separation as indicated by the lower anxiety levels and the reversal of spatial memory deficits compared to animals housed in standard conditions. These changes were associated with increased synaptophysin expression in the hippocampus. PMID: 29545098
  2. Dexamethasone treatment significantly affects both GAP-43 and synaptophysin protein expression in the hippocampus of aged rats. PMID: 28801169
  3. Synaptophysin cerebellar cortex expression was significantly reduced in newborn animals from diabetic mothers. PMID: 27389246
  4. showed a significant down-regulation in mRNA expression of synaptophysin in the offspring born to diabetic animals PMID: 26794272
  5. Synaptophysin spinal cord levels were higher in balance and coordination trained animals compared with non-trained following sciatic nerve crush. PMID: 26316168
  6. the Nociceptin/orphanin FQ receptor system influences the expression of synaptophysin PMID: 25697061
  7. Results identified interesting differences between thienorphine and morphine in their effects on synaptic structure and synaptophysin expression in the rat NAc. PMID: 24861887
  8. Synaptophysin content was high in all the layers of the cortex, but the most intense reaction was detected in the molecular layer, similarly with the intensity of GFAP reaction PMID: 25282817
  9. data suggest that diabetes increases mRNA translation of synaptophysin in the retina, resulting in an accumulation of mannose rich glycosylated synaptophysin, a transient post-translational state of the protein PMID: 22970294
  10. Phosphorylation and nitration of tyrosine residues affect functional properties of Synaptophysin and Dynamin I. PMID: 23103755
  11. The expression of synaptophysin (SYP) and regenerationassociated protein (GAP43) in the injured brain of neural stem cells-transplanted rats was significantly increased. PMID: 21687946
  12. The developmental changes of GluR2 and SYP expression in the rat inferior colliculus may be involved in the development and plasticity of the auditory center. PMID: 20422983

  16. The expression level of synaptophysin showed dynamic changes following diffuse brain injury as well as during the repair period. PMID: 17330749
  17. Data suggest that synaptophysin I has multiple roles in neurotransmitter release, regulating VAMP2 availability for the soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor complex and participating in the late steps of exocytosis PMID: 12181340
  18. Synaptophysin mRNA increased in the barrel cortex contralateral to whisker stimulation, suggesting that synaptophysin is involved in the modulation of synaptic plasticity. PMID: 12363201
  19. We found a kindling-induced increase in synaptophysin in various hippocampal regions and in pyriform cortex, suggesting that activation-induced sprouting extends well beyond the hippocampal mossy fiber system. cortex PMID: 12453493
  20. Synaptophysin and gamma-adaptin occurred in the perinuclear region of hippocampal neurons, suggesting that synaptophysin serves as a docking site for AP-1 during clathrin-dependent vesicle budding and/or kinesin-based transport reactions. PMID: 12498786
