This recombinant monoclonal antibody is a research-grade biosimilar of zovostotug (OR-2805), targeting CD163 (also known as M130; scavenger receptor cysteine-rich type 1), a macrophage-lineage cell surface scavenger receptor composed of multiple SRCR domains. CD163 functions as a key clearance receptor in hemoglobin scavenging pathways (e.g., recognition of hemoglobin–haptoglobin complexes) and is strongly associated with macrophage biology in inflammation and tissue homeostasis. Notably, CD163 also contains a functional internalization motif, making it a useful target for studying receptor-mediated uptake and trafficking in macrophage-focused research models.
Zovostotug is a human anti-CD163 monoclonal antibody (IgG1) that binds CD163 on macrophages. This biosimilar provides the antibody component alone, enabling researchers to investigate CD163 target engagement, macrophage receptor biology, and CD163-dependent internalization/trafficking mechanisms in controlled experimental systems. It supports studies exploring CD163 as a macrophage marker and as a functional handle for macrophage-directed biology and assay development, independent of any conjugated payload or therapeutic formulation variables.
