In the generation of the BARF1 polyclonal antibody, a rabbit is subjected to multiple rounds of immunization using a recombinant Epstein-Barr virus BARF1 protein (21-221aa) until an adequate antibody titer is reached. Following this, the rabbit's blood is collected, and the antibodies are extracted from the serum utilizing protein G. The resulting BARF1 antibody's functionality is assessed through ELISA and WB applications, demonstrating its ability to recognize Epstein-Barr virus BARF1 protein.
The BARF1 protein is selectively produced as a latent gene in Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive epithelial tumor cells, with prominent expression in EBV+ nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) and EBV-associated gastric carcinoma (GC). BARF1 exhibits immune-regulating characteristics and can promote epithelial cell immortalization and transformation functions.
