Target Background

Function
CDK-activating kinase that modulates CDKD-2 and CDKD-3 activities by phosphorylation of the T-loop. Activates CDKD-2 C-terminal domain (CTD) kinase activity. Activates CDKA-1 probably by phosphorylation. Posseses a CDK kinase activity independently of association with cyclin CYCH1-1. Phosphorylates the CTD of the large subunit of RNA polymerase II.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Ser phosphorylation of Arabidopsis thaliana RNAPII CTD is governed by CYCLIN-DEPENDENT KINASE F;1. PMID: 22547781
  2. CDKF;1 plays a major role in cyclin-dependent kinase and carboxy-terminal domain phosphorylation. PMID: 16856985
  3. CDKF;1 is dispensable for CDKA;1 activation but is essential for maintaining a steady-state level of CDKD;2. CDKF;1 mutants have severe defects in cell division, cell elongation and endoreduplication. PMID: 19368694
Protein Families
Protein kinase superfamily, CMGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family, CDC2/CDKX subfamily
Tissue Specificity
Highly expressed in suspension cell culture. Expressed at low levels in all plant organs.
