The cpxR polyclonal antibody is developed by immunizing a rabbit with a recombinant Shigella flexneri cpxR protein segment (amino acids 1-232). The antibodies are then isolated from the extracted rabbit serum through affinity chromatography. The functionality of the cpxR antibody is determined via ELISA and WB assays, affirming its effectiveness in detecting the Shigella flexneri cpxR protein in experimental conditions.
The cpxR protein is a transcriptional regulator involved in the regulation of the cpx pathway in Shigella flexneri. The cpx pathway is a signaling pathway implicated in the response to environmental stresses such as oxidative stress and osmotic stress. The cpxR protein binds to a specific DNA sequence in the promoter region of the cpx genes, activating transcription of the cpx genes that encode proteins involved in the response to environmental stresses, thus contributing to the bacterium's adaptive responses and survival strategies.
