Description

The recombinant Arabidopsis thaliana DCM protein is introduced into a rabbit, which triggers the production of antibodies against this antigen. A booster injection is administered to increase the production of antibodies, and the resulting serum containing the DCM polyclonal antibodies is collected from the rabbit and purified using protein A/G. Rigorous testing in ELISA and WB assays has verified the DCM antibody's recognition of Arabidopsis thaliana DCM protein.

The Escherichia coli (strain K12) DCM protein is mainly responsible for the catalysis of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) to S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine (SAH) and dimethyl sulfate (DMS). This enzyme is involved in the process of DNA methylation, which is important for regulating gene expression and maintaining genome stability.

Target Background

Function
This methylase recognizes the double-stranded sequence CCWGG, causes specific methylation on C-2 on both strands.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Dcm reduces the expression of ribosomal protein genes during stationary phase, and this may explain the highly conserved nature of this DNA modification pathway. PMID: 22150247
Protein Families
Class I-like SAM-binding methyltransferase superfamily, C5-methyltransferase family
