Description

The DGAT3 polyclonal antibody can be raised by immunizing a rabbit with the recombinant Arabidopsis thaliana DGAT3 protein. The DGAT3 antibody is collected from the rabbit serum and then purified through protein A/G. This DGAT3 antibody is suitable for the recognition of Arabidopsis thaliana (mouse-ear cress) DGAT3 protein in the ELISA and WB applications.

The DGAT3 protein plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism. It is primarily involved in the final step of triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis, where it catalyzes the conversion of diacylglycerol (DAG) and fatty acyl-CoA into triglycerides. The DGAT3 protein is particularly important in tissues that are highly active in lipid storage, such as adipose tissue and the small intestine. DGAT3 is also implicated in other physiological processes, including energy homeostasis, insulin sensitivity, and the regulation of lipid droplet formation.

Target Background

Function
Involved in triacylglycerol (TAG) biosynthesis. Catalyzes the acylation of the sn-3 hydroxy group of sn-1,2-diacylglycerol using acyl-CoA. May preferentially use linolenoyl-CoA as substrate and to a lesser extent linoleoyl-CoA. May contribute to the active recycling of linoleate and linolenate into TAG when seed oil breakdown is blocked.
