Target Background

Function
Microtubule-associated force-producing protein involved in producing microtubule bundles and able to bind and hydrolyze GTP. Most probably involved in vesicular trafficking processes, in particular endocytosis. Required for coelomocyte endocytosis. Involved in apoptotic cell phagocytosis. Required for recruitment of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase piki-1 to phagosomes. May play a role in rab-5 recruitment to cell-corpses-containing phagosomes but not to endosomes. Required for embryonic and larval development.
Gene References into Functions
  1. dynamin is a molecular motor which would be involved in GLUT4 translocation by facilitating exocytosis PMID: 28853753
  2. Results describe the oligomerization of dynamin-1 (DYN-1) in living C. elegans embryos and identified DYN-1 mutations that abolish DYN-1's oligomerization or GTPase activities. PMID: 20016007
  3. In Caenorhabditis elegans, dynamin localized to newly formed cleavage furrow membranes and accumulated at the midbody of dividing embryos in a manner similar to dynamin localization in mammalian cells PMID: 12498685
  4. The Caenorhabditis elegans dynamin ortholog, DYN-1, maintains anterior polarity cues. PMID: 19531359
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Cytoplasmic vesicle, phagosome membrane; Peripheral membrane protein.
Protein Families
TRAFAC class dynamin-like GTPase superfamily, Dynamin/Fzo/YdjA family
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in motor neurons in the head and in ventral nerve cord and, to a lesser extent, in sensory neurons in the nerve ring and the tail and interneurons. Expressed in pharyngeal-intestinal valve, intestinal-rectal valve and in intestinal cells.
