  1. Gdt1p,to sustain the Golgi glycosylation process, imports Mn(2+) inside the Golgi lumen when Pmr1p exclusively transports Ca(2+). Gdt1p is a Mn(2+)-sensitive protein whose abundance dependents on the kind of the ion transported by Pmr1p. The aspartic residues of the 2 conserved motifs E-x-G-D-[KR], in the cation binding sites of Gdt1p, play a role in Golgi glycosylation and hence in Mn(2+)/Ca(2+)transport. PMID: 29108953
  2. Gdt1p controls cellular calcium stores and plays a major role in the calcium response induced by osmotic shock when the Golgi calcium pump, Pmr1p, is absent. Furthermore, in the presence of a high concentration of external calcium, Gdt1p is required for glycosylation of carboxypeptidase Y and the glucanosyltransferase Gas1p. PMID: 27075443
