The recombinant Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain ATCC 204508 / S288c) (Baker's yeast) MTCU1 protein is introduced into a rabbit to trigger an immune response. Once enough antibodies have been generated, a rabbit serum sample is taken to isolate the polyclonal antibodies. This MTCU1 antibody is then purified using protein A/G affinity chromatography. The effectiveness of the MTCU1 antibody is assessed through ELISA and WB applications. It is confirmed that this MTCU1 antibody can specifically interact with the Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain ATCC 204508 / S288c) (Baker's yeast) MTCU1 protein.
The Saccharomyces cerevisiae MTCU1 protein plays a crucial role in the assembly of cytochrome c oxidase (COX), which is a key enzyme in the respiratory chain of mitochondria. MTCU1 is involved in the insertion of copper ions into the COX subunit II, facilitating the proper assembly and function of COX. COX is responsible for the final step of cellular respiration, which is the transfer of electrons to oxygen to generate ATP and water.
