Target Background

Function
Orphan nuclear receptor that binds DNA containing an extended core motif half-site sequence 5'-AAGTCA-3'. In males, plays an essential role in the migration of the linker cell which guides gonad elongation during the L3 and L4 stages of larval development by negatively regulating the expression of netrin receptor unc-5 at the mid-L3 stage. Involved in the regulation of non-apoptotic cell death in the linker cell, acting upstream of or in parallel to transcription factor hsf-1.

  3. that the difference between FAX-1 and NHR-67 binding preference is partially mediated by a conserved subclass-specific asparagine or aspartate residue at position 19 of the DNA-binding domain PMID: 18179707
  4. Data show that the C. elegans Tailless/TLX-type, orphan nuclear receptor NHR-67 acts at several distinct steps to determine the identity and subsequent left/right (L/R) asymmetric subtype diversification of a class of gustatory neurons, the ASE neurons. PMID: 19641012
