Target Background

Function
Component of the intracellular auxin-transport pathway. Regulates auxin transport and auxin homeostasis. Directly involved in the regulation of nectar production. Involved in unfolded protein response (UPR) activation. Involved in the control of vein patterning. Redundantly with PIN8, inhibits the vein-formation-promoting functions of PIN5. PIN5, PIN6, and PIN8 control vein network geometry, but they are expressed in mutually exclusive domains of leaf vascular cells.

  2. preferentially expressed in the vasculature of the primary root, cotyledons, cauline leaves, floral stem, sepals, main transmitting tract of reproductive silique PMID: 24487186
  3. Data indicate that PIN6 regulates auxin homeostasis during plant development. PMID: 23922907
  4. PIN6 is required for proper auxin response and nectary function in Arabidopsis. PMID: 23551385
  5. Expression of PIN6 is positively correlated with total nectar production in Arabidopsis and is required for the proper development of short stamens. PMID: 23551385
