Target Background

Function
Functions as a modulator of calcium-binding by calmodulin. Thereby, regulates calmodulin activity and the different processes it controls. For instance, may play a role in neuronal differentiation through activation of calmodulin-dependent kinase signaling pathways.
Gene References into Functions
  1. PEP-19/pcp4 has previously been identified as a critical determinant of synaptic plasticity. PMID: 27760390
  2. We further found that Pcp4 gene on the Ts1Rhr trisomic segment is expressed in ependymal cells, and its resumption to two copies rescued both ventricular enlargement and cilia dysfunction in Ts1Rhr mice. PMID: 28069794
  3. PCP4 regulates cardiac excitability through both Purkinje cell-autonomous and central mechanisms. PMID: 25295538
  4. The PCP4 immunostaining-delineated CA2 neurons have distinguishable differences in cell morphology, physiology, and synaptic circuit connections compared with distal CA3 and proximal CA1 regions. PMID: 24166578
  5. Data show that the transcription factor Hoxa2 binds to Pcp4 chromatin and regulates Pcp4 expression in the second arch. PMID: 23671666
  6. Data show that Pcp4 overexpression induces precocious neuronal differentiation, and is associated with an increase in CaMKIIdelta activation. PMID: 21491429
  7. Data indicate that pep-19/pcp4 is a critical determinant of synaptic plasticity in cerebellum and locomotor learning. PMID: 21576365
  8. The expression of Pcp4 in naive resting mature B cells is dependent upon tonic stimulation from the CR1/CR2 proteins via a C3 ligand. PMID: 19201479
