Target Background

Function
Mediates trans-Golgi-network trafficking and cell elongation. Required for keeping the appropriate balance between secretory trafficking and vacuolar targeting of a subset of proteins. The ECH/YIP4 complex is involved in the modulation of the trans-Golgi network (TGN)-mediated trafficking of some proteins and cell wall components (e.g. pectin and hemicellulose) to the cell wall in dark-grown hypocotyls and in secretory cells of the seed coat.
Gene References into Functions
  1. ECH expression is critical for a variety of aspects of male reproduction, including the production of functional pollen grains, their effective release, germination, and tube formation. PMID: 24424320
  2. ECH protein is required for the trans-Golgi network-mediated trafficking of the auxin influx carrier AUX1 to the plasma membrane. [ECH] PMID: 24043780
Subcellular Location
Golgi apparatus, trans-Golgi network membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Early endosome membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Protein Families
TVP23 family
