Description

The UGI polyclonal antibody is raised in a rabbit immunized with a recombinant Bacillus phage PBS2 (Bacteriophage PBS2) UGI protein. The serum is collected from the rabbit to obtain polyclonal antibodies, which are then purified through protein G affinity chromatography. The efficacy of the UGI antibody in detecting Bacillus phage PBS2 (Bacteriophage PBS2) UGI protein is assessed through ELISA and WB assays.

The main function of the UGI protein in Bacillus phage PBS2 (Bacteriophage PBS2) is to inhibit the host bacterial DNA repair system. This protein prevents the host bacterium from repairing DNA damage caused by the incorporation of uracil into the DNA molecule. By inhibiting the repair system, UGI ensures the survival and replication of the phage within the host bacterium.

Target Background

Function
This protein binds specifically and reversibly to the host uracil-DNA glycosylase, preventing removal of uracil residues from PBS2 DNA by the host uracil-excision repair system.
