Description

The VAV polyclonal antibody is produced by introducing recombinant Drosophila melanogaster (Fruit fly) VAV protein into a rabbit, which stimulates the production of antibodies that specifically target this antigen. Antibody production is further enhanced through a booster injection, and the resulting VAV polyclonal antibodies in the rabbit's serum are collected and purified using protein A/G. Rigorous testing conducted in ELISA and WB assays has verified the VAV antibody's ability to recognize Drosophila melanogaster (Fruit fly) VAV protein.

The Drosophila melanogaster VAV protein mainly acts as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for small GTPases of the Rho family. It plays a crucial role in regulating the actin cytoskeleton and cell signaling pathways. The VAV protein is involved in various cellular processes such as cell migration, cell adhesion, and cell proliferation. Additionally, it is also implicated in the development and function of the nervous system in fruit flies.

Target Background

Function
Couples tyrosine kinase signals with the activation of the Rho/Rac GTPases. Probably plays a pivotal role as a signal transducer protein during fruit fly development.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Findings establish that Vav acts at multiple times during eye development to prevent excessive cell recruitment by limiting EGFR signalling and by regulating junction dynamics to ensure the correct patterning and morphogenesis of the Drosophila eye. PMID: 25813543
  2. regulator of Rac activity in a developmentally regulated cell migration PMID: 23525006
  3. vav acts in coordination with other GEFs to regulate axon growth and guidance during development by linking guidance signals to the cytoskeleton via the modulation of Rac activity PMID: 20147552
  4. DroVav has a role as a signal transducer that participates in receptor tyrosine kinase pathways and functions as a GEF for the small RhoGTPase, DRac PMID: 14555990
Tissue Specificity
Ubiquitous.
