Target Background

Function
Negative regulatory component of the MBF transcription factor complex involved in cell-cycle G1/S phase-specific gene expression and more particularly DNA replication checkpoint-dependent gene expression.
Gene References into Functions
  1. data show that Yox1 acts to co-ordinate the expression of MBF-regulated genes during the cell division cycle; data suggests that Yox1 is inactivated by the Rad3 DNA replication checkpoint via phosphorylation by the conserved Cds1 checkpoint kinase PMID: 21304269
  2. Checkpoint-dependent phosphorylation of Yox1p at Ser114, Thr115 results in de-repression of the MBF transcriptional program. PMID: 21359180
  3. phosphorylation of Yox1 when the checkpoint kinase is activated triggers the transcriptional induction of the S-phase genes PMID: 21132016
  4. Yox1 as a new regulatory MBF component in fission yeast, which is transcriptionally induced by MBF and in turn inhibits MBF-dependent transcription. PMID: 19714215
