Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<15%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<15%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.

Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of human F-TESTO in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Description

Free testosterone represents the biologically active fraction of testosterone that is not bound to sex hormone-binding globulin or albumin, typically comprising 1-3% of total testosterone in circulation. This unbound form readily diffuses into target tissues and exerts physiological effects on muscle development, bone density, libido, and cognitive function. Free testosterone levels provide a more accurate measure of androgen bioavailability than total testosterone measurements, particularly in conditions where binding protein concentrations are altered. This makes it a valuable biomarker in endocrinology and clinical research.

The Human Free Testosterone ELISA Kit (CSB-E05096h) uses a competitive quantitative assay principle to measure F-TESTO levels in human serum and plasma samples. The kit offers a detection range of 7.5 pg/mL to 1500 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 3.75 pg/mL, requiring 50-100 μL sample volume per well. The assay can be completed within 1-5 hours. Optical density measurements are taken at 450 nm wavelength.

Application Examples

Note: The following application examples are drawn from a selection of publications citing this product. For additional applications, please refer to the full list of references in the "Citations" section.

This ELISA kit has been used in endocrine research studies to quantify free testosterone levels in human samples. The kit supports comprehensive hormonal profiling studies where multiple sex hormones and related binding proteins are measured simultaneously to evaluate endocrine function and hormonal balance.

Endocrine profiling - Used alongside other hormone assays to create comprehensive hormonal profiles including sex hormones and binding proteins
Hormonal balance studies - Applied in research examining relationships between different components of the sex hormone system
Biomarker quantification - Used to measure free testosterone as part of broader hormonal panels in human subjects
