Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of human PI in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

This ELISA kit provides quantitative measurement of proinsulin in human serum and plasma, supporting research into pancreatic β-cell function and insulin processing within signal transduction pathways. Because intact proinsulin circulates at low picomolar concentrations and its ratio to mature insulin serves as a critical indicator of β-cell secretory dysfunction, precise detection at these levels demands purpose-built assay performance.
Detection Range: The 0.312–20 pmol/L range spans both normal fasting proinsulin levels (~3–8 pmol/L) and the elevated concentrations observed in type 2 diabetes, insulinoma, and prediabetic insulin resistance. Most fasting serum samples can be measured directly without dilution, simplifying assay planning.
Sensitivity: At 0.156 pmol/L, the kit detects proinsulin in samples where concentrations fall below normal fasting baselines, including post-therapeutic monitoring following β-cell interventions or in neonatal screening contexts where sample-derived signal is minimal.
Sample Compatibility: Validation in both serum and plasma allows researchers to integrate proinsulin quantification into longitudinal clinical cohort studies and controlled glucose-stimulation experiments without restricting blood collection protocols.
Assay Efficiency: The 1–5 hour assay time and 50–100 µL sample volume accommodate multi-timepoint oral glucose tolerance test designs, where numerous paired samples must be processed from limited blood draws.
This kit directly supports research in β-cell dysfunction progression, type 2 diabetes risk stratification, and insulinoma differential diagnosis.
