This ELISA kit provides quantitative measurement of monocarboxylate transporter (MCT) in human samples, supporting research into lactate shuttle dynamics and metabolic signaling in health and disease. Because MCT expression and shedding vary substantially between quiescent tissue, exercising muscle, and glycolytically active tumors, the kit is designed to accommodate the broad concentration differences researchers encounter across these contexts.
Detection Range: The 0.94–60 ng/mL range spans the soluble MCT fragment levels reported in both normal circulation and the elevated concentrations found in tumor-conditioned environments. Most serum or plasma samples can be assayed neat or with minimal dilution, while concentrated culture supernates from highly glycolytic cell lines may require a single dilution step.
Sensitivity: At 0.47 ng/mL, the kit detects low-abundance soluble MCT in conditioned media from primary cells or low-passage cultures where transporter shedding is limited, as well as in early-stage metabolic reprogramming studies before MCT levels rise appreciably.
Sample Compatibility: Validation across serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, and tissue homogenates enables direct comparison between circulating soluble MCT and local tissue expression—critical for correlating systemic metabolic signaling with tumor microenvironment or ischemic tissue status.
Assay Efficiency: The 1–5 hour protocol using only 50–100 µL accommodates precious primary cell lysates and small-volume clinical specimens common in metabolic phenotyping studies.
